Ultimate Andalucia

The ‘Ultimate Andalucia’ tour is an 11 day/10 night small group ‘circuit’ tour that takes you around most of Andalucía.

You stay in high quality hotels in the centre of the Cities.

You can add any of the tour extensions to the beginning or end of this tour if you wish to extend your holiday.

This tour normally starts on a Wednesday.

Some guests often arrive a day or two beforehand, with us organising accommodation in the same hotel in Málaga.

Tour Itinerary Overview

Day 1:

Arrive and collection from Málaga, subject to time, visit pretty Mijas mountain village before transfer to your accommodation in Málaga. We will give you a short walking tour of the old quarter. Enjoy the evening and night in stunning Málaga.

Day 2:

After breakfast, a free morning to enjoy Málaga old town, visit any of the sites such as the Alcazaba Fortress, the Picasso Museum or the Cathedral. We meet you at 12:30 and take you to have lunch at a local’s beachside ‘Chiringuito’ in East Málaga, where they barbeque fresh fish on olive wood fires on the beach. After lunch, we travel to Granada City and check in to the hotel in the centre for two nights.  In the evening, if you wish, we will drive you to the top of the Albayzin, the old Arab quarter of the City, where you can have dinner at Restaurante Jardines de Zoraya. The restaurant has a wonderful ‘non-touristy’ Flamenco performance by talented local professional artists. You can see the Alhambra lit up at night across the Darro valley from the viewing point ‘Mirador San Nicolas’. Take a taxi or walk down the hotel to your hotel.

Day 3:

We will meet you at 10:30 and give you a walking tour around the old quarter of the City, including the Plaza Bib Rambla and Cathedral/Capilla Real areas and a wander down the banks of the River Darro. If you wish, you can visit the Cathedral and Museum of Granada or take a late morning treat of ‘Chocolate con Churros’ in the Plaza Bib Rambla. Early afternoon, we will drive up to the Alhambra. You will have pre-purchased tickets that include a specific entry time into the Nasrid Palaces. You will enter the complex a couple of hours beforehand and have time to explore the Gardens and other areas before the Palaces. The Tour Leader will depart and, after the visit, you can wander down the hill into the centre of the city or take the shuttle bus or taxi. Spend a second evening and night in Granada.

Day 4:

We will meet you at 09:30 and travel to Córdoba. Check-in to your hotel in or near the old quarter. We will give you a short walking tour. We will visit the Barrio San Basilio, the old walls of the City, a typical Patio of Córdoba, the Jewish Quarter and take a tapas lunch. In the afternoon, visit the world heritage site of the Mesquita, the greatest ancient Mosque in the Western World. Walk across the Roman Bridge and enjoy the evening and night in historic Córdoba.

Day 5:

After breakfast, visit the Christian Alcazar and we will meet you at 11:00 and depart for Ronda. Check in to the hotel and we will give you a short orientation tour. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon in Ronda, admire the spectacular views of the gorge and visit the historic bullring, now a museum. 

Day 6:

We will meet you at 10:30 and travel, via the Grazalema National Park, to beautiful Seville. Arriving in Seville, you will check-in to your hotel and enjoy a tapas lunch in the Barrio Santa Cruz, the lovely old Jewish Quarter. After lunch, we will give you a short walking tour of Seville. We will visit the Maria Louisa Park, the Plaza España and walk past the historic buildings. Then you will be free to visit the Cathedral or just relax. Enjoy a lovely evening and night in this stunning City.

Day 7:

Enjoy a free day in Seville. In the morning, we recommend visiting the Real Alcázar of Seville, the oldest Royal Palaces still in use in Europe. Maybe visit the Metropolitan Parasol, the ‘Setas’, the world’s largest man-made wooden structure and wander the narrow streets. Spend a second night in the City.

Day 8:

We will depart Seville at 10:00 and drive to Jerez. We will give you a short walking tour and take a tapas lunch. In the afternoon you can visit one of the famous Sherry Bodegas. They offer guided tours in English. After the visit, we drive the short journey to Cádiz. Check in to your hotel for two nights. We will give you an early evening orientation walk around the historic areas to include, the old Barrio Populo, the Roman Theatre (which you can visit the following morning), past the Cathedral and the small flower market. We leave you to spend the evening in Cádiz. 

Day 9:

A free day for you to explore Cádiz. One of the oldest continuously occupied Cities in the world. Visit the Roman Theatre and take a tapas lunch in the bustling city market, open weekdays. Maybe visit the Camera Obscura in the tallest tower of the City, the Torre Tavira. Enjoy a relaxing day and evening in Cádiz.

Day 10:

At 10.30, we will depart Cádiz and travel to the white village of Setenil de las Bodegas, where the houses are built into the cliffs. Have lunch in Setenil before we travel back to Málaga with a stop on the way to see the turquoise waters of the Ardales Lakes and the impressive El Chorro Gorge. Arriving in Málaga, the Tour will end with the drop-off back at your hotel and your Tour Leader will say goodbye. The hotel room, with breakfast the following morning, is included in your tour price.

Day 11:

Spend time in Málaga before before making your own way for onward departure. Or maybe extend your stay in the Málaga area by booking additional nights at a local hotel.
